Impact of the FSMA on Cold Supply Chain and Food Safety.

Cold chain best practices and food safety are more important than ever. A cold chain is a temperature-controlled supply chain. An unbroken cold chain is an uninterrupted series of storage and distribution activities, under a given temperature range. It is used to help extend and ensure the shelf life of products such as fresh agricultural produce, seafood, frozen food, and drugs.

With the passing of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), cold chain and food safety are getting more scrutiny than ever before. Everyone in the food supply chain must be aware of the new requirements of the FSMA. Cold chain practitioners should update their best practices to make sure they comply with the FSMA.

With the passage of the FSMA, cold chain companies should reevaluate their cold chain best practices. The FSMA is the biggest regulatory overhaul in the history of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FSMA is a paradigm shift, which moves the focus from food inspections to preventative measures and process compliance.

The FSMA will impact food producers, distributors, retailers and transportation and logistics companies transporting food. The FSMA has specific provisions for temperature controlled food. Join this webinar by expert speaker Joe Lynch, which will provide you with an overview of the impact of the food safety modernization act on cold chain and food safety.
