Mark Thomas Smith | Patent Litigations Speaker

Mark Thomas Smith

Mark Thomas Smith, counsel at Perkins Coie LLP, and a registered patent agent, represents both plaintiffs and defendants in patent litigations. His experience extends beyond the patent arena where he also represent clients in complex and high-profile cases. Mark’s background includes a wide range of technologies from electrical applications to medical devices. Mark also focuses on optical technologies ranging from lasers to fiber optics to other optical components. Mark’s trial experience is significant. He works efficiently to put his clients in the best position to win at trial without spending unneeded time on issues that do not directly advance his clients’ interests. His experience includes helping to obtain a multimillion dollar jury verdict in a multi-week unfair competition and tortious interference trial in Federal Court. He also helped secure another multimillion dollar jury verdict involving infringement of a medical device method patent. His litigation style is marked by careful case management and strong brief-writing skills. Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Mark served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Sara Darrow in the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois.
