Michael Vincent is Principal and CEO of The Sustainable Package, LLC. His consulting business is based in packaging a sustainable food supply. He is a strategic business leader with nearly three decades of food packaging, product development, quality assurance, strategic sourcing, and sustainable business experience. He is an innovator who holds six U.S. patents for packaging and processing of food. He is a graduate of Michigan State’s school of packaging where he received the Sealed Air Outstanding Student scholarship. He is also a Certified Packaging Professional, lifetime status, by the Institute of Packaging Professionals. Previously he led Safeway's supply chain sustainability team, where his team defined sustainability initiatives and implemented programs to successfully achieve results. Prior to that, Mike managed the sourcing team responsible for procuring all packaging for Safeway's 31 manufacturing plants.
Mike collaborates on sustainability initiatives across industry platforms and was a participant on developing the metrics, indicators and reporting requirements of the Global Packaging Project sponsored by the Consumer Goods Forum. He has been published in food and packaging journals and authored a chapter on Centralized Packaging of Retail Ready Fresh Meat, included in the book Modified Atmosphere Food Packaging edited by Dr. Aaron Body published by IoPP.
