The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) runs two very popular programs that people in the housing industry must have a complete understanding. Those are Section 202 and Section 811 programs.
HUD Section 202 helps in expanding the supply of affordable housing with supportive services for the elderly. It provides an option for low-income seniors that allow them to live freely in a surrounding that offers support services for them such as cooking, transportation, cleaning etc. It is affordable for them as they are also given rent subsidies.
HUD Section 811 provides supportive housing for people with disabilities, similar to Section 202 programs. This program allows people with disabilities to live as independently as possible by providing access to required support services and also by subsidizing housing rental.
