This session with expert speaker Stanislov Krapivnik will cover how and where oil-gas deposits are formed and a basic overview of the geography of oil-gas. He will discuss the Major areas where oil-gas are found and the type of geological formations likely to hold them. You will learn how the formations are located, how drilling areas are prepared, covering both the land and marine platforms/rigs. He will discuss the preparation work on the pad (for land rigs), specifics of setup and the basics of marine rigs. You will learn the different drilling processes, starting with different drilling tools (bits), pipe, how drilling is conducted, what drilling fluids (muds) are used. You will become familiar with the steps involved in laying pipe down holes and cementing the pipe in place.
This session will cover the dangers involved in each step of the drilling process and the challenges that different environmental zones can present for drilling (Russian Siberian drilling, swamp drilling, marine areas and so on).
