Event Description

Create Professional-Looking Online Forms in Word to Collect & Analyze Information

If you have struggled with “drawing” forms in Word with lines, boxes, and underlining, this session will show you how to master automatic forms in Microsoft Word—and save hours of manual work. Once you begin using the forms feature in Word, you will never go back to hard copy forms again. Best of all, after you collect the information online, you can export the data to Excel for analysis, or simply print it.

Learn how to use Microsoft Word’s built-in automation to increase efficiency and productivity in this session by technology expert Mitzi Katz. Online forms can save you countless hours of manual entry. Katz will show you how to design forms using all types of form fields—including drop-down lists, checkboxes, and calculated fields. She will also show you how to change properties for formatting and adding help text, as well as how to create, design, and manipulate the data you collect, and save your form as a template for repeated use.

Forms can contain multiple types of fields—such as checkboxes and drop-down lists—as well as macros to further automate the process. You will learn how to protect them so that the user can only enter data in the specified fields without manipulating the form. You will also learn where the features of forms and fields reside, and how to put them to good use—and what to use when. Katz will examine the sources for creating forms, and the different types of applications for including forms in your data collection methods. The more you learn about Word forms, the more uses you will find for them. Let the software do the work!

After attending this session, you will be able to create professional-looking online forms in Word to collect information. You will know how to manipulate the information collected in Excel, and send the form to Adobe Acrobat for more functionality.

Part 2 of this webinar will cover other types of forms of fields, so stay tuned!
