Use Styles in Microsoft Word 2013 to Quickly Add a Professional-Look to Long, Boring Documents

What makes a large document boring? Large amounts of narrative text might be considered boring - from a visual perspective. We're all familiar with the glazed look in the eyes people get when confronted with a sheer wall of text. Even if the content is compelling, the format of the document can affect the document by adding interest; or can distract by making content irregular or jumpy to read. If you regularly compile or write long, detailed documents, stylistic choices of font, spacing, and differentiating titles and subtitles can actually make a serious difference in how your writing is received. Properly differentiating between sections is a must, and giving your document a smooth and consistent look and feel can make it seem more professional, but more importantly make its content more accessible.

Styles in Microsoft Word 2013 are collections of formatting choices that can be applied automatically through a document for fast and consistent professional-looking documents. Ms Word Styles come in many varieties - character, paragraph, tables, lists, and more-you can change the entire document's fonts and sizing, or focus just on how tables should look, for instance.
