Successfully Implementing Change by Dealing with Resistance Effectively

Major organizational change initiatives are almost never easy, even when it is obvious they are necessary.  Each individual and group in the organization has its own values, priorities and purposes, and these differences make it difficult to get everyone aligned and moving in the same direction at the same time. This is also often true for small changes being implemented for simple process improvements.

There are several types of issues that impact the effectiveness of change agents/facilitators. One is a lack of understanding of core concepts and principles involved in systems change, the second is the mindset of the change agents themselves, and the third is a lack of sufficient range of tools/techniques that can be applied in different situations to help initiate actions in the “right” direction.

This session by expert speaker Duke Okes will present many visual models that can help change facilitators frame change management and deal with resistance both proactively and reactively. You will get not only a basic understanding of each of the topics but also how to leverage them in order to drive change. You will get a technical (versus behavioral) view of what you, as a change agent, should know in order to be more effective. Duke will draw on his own experiences and teachings and writings in the fields of systems thinking, psychology, and complexity theory.
