Event Description

Learn How to Use DD2977 for Simpler Applications—and Achieve Better Results

Why use FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) when you can use DD2977 for the same job? FMEA can often be too detailed and complicated for relatively simple applications such as the manufacture of simple parts, materials, or components as opposed to systems and assemblies. On the other hand, the Army's DD2977 (Deliberate Risk Assessment Worksheet), is similar in concept to FMEA—but simpler to understand, implement, and use.

Learn how DD2977 can replace FMEA for your needs in this informative webinar by industry expert William Levinson. Levinson will discuss the concept of modifying DD2977 to use as a substitute to FMEA, and the circumstances under which it can be done. He will show you how DD2977 severity and probability ratings can be correlated to FMEA severity and occurrence ratings, respectively. He will also discuss the ISO standard supported by DD2977; how DD2977 can be expanded like FMEA to create a dynamic control plan; how DD2977 is highly useful when it is not possible to quantify the occurrence rating as depicted in FMEA; and more.

After attending this webinar, you will be confident in your ability to use a modified DD2977 and associated control plan as a substitute for FMEA when this approach is acceptable to internal or external customers.

  • Difference between DD2977 and FMEA
  • ISO standard supported by DD2977
  • DD2977 revision according to the Management of Change (MOC) principle
  • DD2977 'control' requirement—what controls are already in place, and what controls will be added or modified to address the failure modes

Who Should Attend
