Take Guidance from 2018’s Key Court Decisions to Avoid Compliance Pitfalls in 2019

The court system made some very interesting decisions in 2018 affecting employers.  The Supreme Court surprisingly changed a 50-plus-year-old standard by which to determine exempt status under the Fair Labor Standards Act – and issued a few ground-breaking decisions regarding class action waivers and arbitration agreements. And it’s not just the Supreme Court that has issued decisions stating we have been looking at things all wrong for many years, particularly with regard to sexual orientation. You need to understand these court decisions because they can set the precedent for compliance in 2019.

In this webinar, industry expert Susan Desmond will walk you through some of the most interesting court decisions in 2018, and discuss the lessons you should learn from these decisions. You will learn the Supreme Court’s view towards class action waivers; court decisions regarding sexual orientation and gender identity; court distinctions between employees and independent contractors; leave of absence cases under the Americans with Disabilities Act; medical marijuana cases; EEOC’s (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s) enforcement authority, and other core employment issues. This session will also provide in-depth insight on what company owners, HR professionals, and risk managers need to know to avoid the risk of long and expensive legal tangles while dealing with employee issues and complaints.

A lawsuit against your company’s human resource practices can damage your company’s reputation and prove to be a costly and time consuming affair – even if you end up winning it. Attend this webinar to stay prepared and avoid compliance pitfalls in 2019.
