Your New Year’s Resolution: Proactive Payroll Processing to Keep IRS at Bay

Believe it or not, ongoing preparation for year-end payroll tasks should begin in January. No more waiting until October or November and scrambling to dot “i”s and cross “t”s. That’s especially true now that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is scrutinizing year-end compliance and pending tax legislation has the potential to alter your responsibilities.

So it’s time to wrap up 2018 and get a jump on good payroll processing habits for 2019! Learn best practices for transitioning from an end-of-the-calendar-tax-year crunch to smooth and compliant start-of-the-year processing in this information-packed webinar by human resources and payroll expert Vicki Lambert. She will cover Form W-2 submittal and the many annual reporting and filing changes you have to contend with thanks to the IRS, Social Security Administration, and Department of Labor. Plus, she’ll detail payroll regulation changes on the state level—including those affecting state unemployment insurance (SUI) taxable wage bases and minimum wage increases.

You’ll also pick up time-saving tools, such as how to use a two-page memo to satisfy employees’ never-ending questions and how to design a duplicate W-2 request procedure that will save you many headaches once you issue the forms next year. Lambert will present a detailed checklist to keep your many tasks on track. And she’ll ensure that you walk away knowing exactly what to expect for tax year 2019—including changes to Form W-2 and Form 668-W/deferred compensation limits, and possible changes to Form 941 for 2019.

Take the stress out of the tail end of the year—employ these best practices to organize your payroll department for smooth sailing into 2019.
