Currently, the Family Medical Leave Act (1993) is the only federal regulation that requires employers to provide employees with leave for serious medical conditions. There are three states that have enacted laws that require employers to provide paid leave today; however, there still isn't a federal law that provides employees with paid leave. There is a huge push throughout the United States - at the state and local level especially - to require leave for employees when they are sick.
The question today is 'How to understand and comply with the expanding regulations regarding leave in the United States?'
This session with expert speaker Somer Jefferiss covers current Federal and local (state and municipal) leave laws throughout the United States in 2015 and is primarily focused on Paid Sick Leave. This session will ensure you, as HR professionals and business owners, stay informed and up to date on the changing legal landscape regarding Leave Laws in the United States. There is a major push at both the federal and state level to pass legislation ensuring all workers in the United States are entitled to Sick Leave. Somer will thoroughly cover the arguments on both sides while providing you information that is critical to ensure continued compliance. You will receive informational charts on current regulations present in various states and localities throughout the United States.
