Understand Child Support Requirements and Know How to Be Compliant With Various Related Federal and State Laws

In order to bring a national standard to the laws that withhold child support, laws have been enacted by Federal government which require states to adopt a few rules that set their own standards to implement requirements of child support. Deadlines to withhold and remit payments, penalties for fines, filing procedures and fines for violations are certain requirements that are included. However, the states are free when it comes to setting up their own rules and regulations till the time they fall within the guidelines, and many do differ from minimum field requirements. It is the duty of the payroll department to know both federal and state laws, and they should determine which one applies to the child support withholding order.

Along with these laws and regulations, current federal rules expect that a standard Income Withholding Order (IWO) should be used for all child support withholding garnishments. Join this webinar by expert speaker Vicki M. Lambert to understand this form and the requirements therein. Though it is under the purview of IWO to include all information needed for order compliance, employers need to familiarize themselves with both federal and state regulations to remain compliant. State laws also need to address certain issues which federal law is silent on. However, withholding child support money is not the only requirements that is applicable to providing for child, but medical support orders also need to be processed by payroll. These orders are equipped with their own rules and regulations on federal and state level, and this webinar will provide examples of child support calculation.

A major focus area in this webinar is child support garnishments, and best practices are also included to process all garnishments, especially in payroll department. The session also includes rules and regulations governing on child support and calculation examples.
