Event Description

Learn How to Facilitate In-Depth Learning through The Next Generation Science Standards

Next Generation Science Standards represent a major shift in K-12 education in the United States and this teaching methodology will affect more than just the traditional science classrooms.

Spurred by America's lack of competitiveness in the STEM fields, NGSS are designed to better equip today's K-12 students with the science, technology, engineering, and math skills necessary for the jobs of tomorrow.

Last Fall, California became the eighth and most recent state to adopt these rigorous standards developed by a 26-state coalition. Most experts believe it is just a matter of time before the remaining states follow suit.

In this dynamic webinar, expert speaker Dr. David Thornburg explores the changes that these standards mandate, and shows how you, as an educator, can implement powerful tools to help students develop lifelong passions for the subjects they are studying.

This webinar will provide you with a solid understanding of NGSS and give you effective strategies for not just meeting them, but maximizing their benefits for your students. You will understand the reason engineering and technology have been added to the curriculum and their link in practical areas to science and math. David will discuss the elements of NGSS and will provide links to powerful (and free) software that can be used across the STEM curriculum, a free link to 50 project starter videos created by David, and examples of relevant projects for the STEM classroom.
