Event Description

Five Conditions for Student Success and Completion, and Their Relationship to Institutional Action

Many post-secondary institutions across the country (both two-year and four-year) continue to struggle with student persistence and completion rates, especially with first generation, minority, and other underserved student populations.

In this session, expert speaker Jerald L. Henderson, Ph.D will discuss factors that institutions should consider when attempting to improve the educational experiences of the students that they serve. Institutions who want to improve their student persistence and success outcomes (i.e. degree completions) will be provided a conceptual and practical framework that encourages them to be more systematic and holistic in their student persistence and success efforts. This will involve encouraging colleges and universities to examine their current institutional practices to understand their strengths and weaknesses. This will also result in potential changes that can improve their student success outcomes.

You will find this session beneficial if you want to expand your institution’s efforts in helping more students persist and succeed. Jerald will provide an institutional framework by which an entire college or university can be involved in student success. Only through collaborative efforts can a college or university be very successful in improving the educational experiences of all students who are attending their institution.

By attending this session, you will be able to better understand the important conditions and components that can enhance students’ chances of succeeding.
