Event Description

Learn How to Develop and Measure the Success of Your Mentoring Program

Mentoring is one of the most valuable and effective development opportunities you can offer to your students. Many successful people attribute a part of their success to it. Many people, including those in higher education, don’t understand mentoring properly. That’s why most mentoring programs fail. If you want to understand the success of a mentorship program, you should know how to measure the quality, quantity, and overall success of the program—in terms of metrics and goals—as well as understanding that mentoring is not just meriting for coffee.

Learn the nuts and bolts of a successful mentoring program in this webinar by industry expert Kent Seaver. Seaver will explain the importance of the mentoring process—from the faculty, student, and alumni perspective—and the results it delivers. He will explain why mentoring at three distinct levels is important, how peer to peer mentoring creates academic success—both for your students and your institution–and why the value of your alumni should be seen not just through internship placements and jobs but also through other factors—such as activities and a willingness to mentor. Seaver will explore what it takes to create a comprehensive model for academic mentoring success—from recruitment and admission, to class work, graduation, and employment. This model will not just include what you need, but also why you need it. Seaver will focus on the “why” (before the “how”) of what your academic institution does to better help you understand the issue, the need for change, and the reason for implementation.

After attending this session, you will know how to develop a successful mentoring program that attracts quality students. You will also know how to measure the success of your mentoring program, and create a successful pipeline—from graduates to employable alumni.
