The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation on pet foods is similar to that for other animal foods. As per the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) all animal (pet) foods should be safe to eat, produced under sanitary conditions, contain no harmful substances, and be correctly (truthfully) labeled.
This webinar by expert speaker Will Woodlee will provide an overview of legal requirements for the labeling of pet food products in the United States. He will discuss in depth the technical rules that apply to ingredient references in product names or elsewhere on product labels. This session will cover some important topics such as nutrient claims, promoting products as "natural" and "organic," and the regulatory status of so-called "pet supplements."
You will leave with a solid understanding of the rules governing pet food labeling in the United States, including the challenges and opportunities that the marketers of pet products face promoting their products in a manner consistent with current law.
