Event Description

Explore the Potential of Construction Technology Advances in Avoiding or Mitigating Construction Claims

The construction industry has long been singled out as an industry with declining productivity and a strong resistance to change. Technology has transformed the world radically over the last few decades. Computers, the internet, the internet of things, solar and wind power generation, and much more have made substantive changes in our personal and professional lives as well as in the overall economy. There have also been a number of technology changes impacting construction with even more on the way. But how can these technological advancements help you with project management and construction claims?

Join this session with expert speakers Benjamin Woolley and James G. Zack Jr., CCM, CFCC, FAACE, FRICS, FFA, PMP, who will identify and explore some of the advances in construction technology and their potential impact on project and construction claims management and dispute avoidance. They will identify 21 “early stage startups” that are working on technologies – both software and hardware – oriented at changing the construction industry insofar as how projects are planned, designed, and constructed. This session will examine how these technological advances are in the process of changing the construction industry, and how some of these technology changes have the potential to avoid or mitigate construction claims.

This is a first-of-its-kind session where Benjamin and James will discuss specific advances in construction-related technology with an eye towards how today’s project and construction management practices are likely to be changed. They will also discuss how these technological advances should help reduce claims and avoid legal disputes at the end of the project.
