As a designer or contractor, you can have liability to third parties who are injured as a result of a defect in the design or construction – as well as for increased cost of construction due to design defects. The costs of these claims can be significant, including the not-so-obvious costs, such as the billable time spent, and the loss of what could have been a client for life. But there are ways to protect yourself from such liability to third parties, and avoid unnecessary lawsuits and monetary losses.
In this webinar, industry veteran John A. Snow will teach you how to protect yourself from third party liability, and shield yourself from being held accountable for increased project costs as a result of design or construction defects. Snow will review and explain the typical or common claims against designers and contractors regarding defects. You will learn the contract provisions that you can use to shift the risk of liability to others who can better absorb the loss, such as insurance – as well as how to make use of indemnification provisions and caps on liability to limit or bar recovery for defects. Plus, you will learn about the statutory and legal principles that can protect you from liability.
After attending this session, you will know how to minimize your risk exposure and chances of recovery by third parties.
