Event Description

Review the Costs & Benefits of the Proposed Changes to the Certification of Pesticide Applicators Rule

The EPA recently closed the public comment period on its proposal to modify the requirements for the Certification of Pesticide Applicators rule, the regulation that governs the approximately one million pesticide applicators in the United States using Restricted Use Pesticides.  This rule will impact the operations of commercial pesticide applicators, private pesticide applicators (such as individual farmers, ranchers and other landowners), as well as states and tribal nations that operate Certified Applicator regulatory programs.

In this webinar, expert speaker Erik R. Janus will introduce you to how Restricted Use Pesticides and applicators are currently regulated under the Federal Insecticide Fungicide & Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). Erik will review the proposed changes to the legislation and the costs and benefits of the proposed rule. He will also offer advice on engaging with the federal government as the public comments are considered and additional changes made.

Session Highlights:

  • Review history and use of FIFRA to protect pesticide applicators
  • Review current regulatory approach to Restricted Use Pesticide and Certified Applicators
  • Understand the proposed modifications to the Certified Applicator Rule
  • Understand costs and benefits of the rule, as determined by the federal government
  • Get insights into how the regulation will impact state and regional market conditions
