Plastics are Inherently Flammable – How to Reduce/Eliminate Flammability Economically?

Flame retardant plastics have numerous applications. Prospective formulators in plastics must understand how to create plastic materials with reduced flammability, economically. You must be able to quickly develop these plastics, while also keeping costs down.

This session, with industry veteran Dr. Daniel Davidson will help you do exactly that! You will get an overview of how to formulate flame retardant plastics, as well as an in-depth discussion of the major types of flame retardant plastics, including the historic halogen types and also the more recently introduced non-halogen family.

You will learn how to economically create plastic materials with reduced flammability. It is important to consider the chemicals to use in formulating flame retardant plastics – you will learn why, and will get the recipes for the type of plastics you will face. In doing so, you may save money by reducing the potential cost of additional development by getting a head start on best practices in formulating flame retardant plastics.

Although there will be reference to applications for specific types of flame retardant plastics, this discussion will be primarily technical in nature, showcasing how and why specific chemicals are commercially applied. You will understand the specific advantages and disadvantages of each type.
