What is an Experienced Attorney?
Attorneys admitted in New York for more than two years are classified as experienced attorneys.
When do I have to report my credits?
They must be reported within 30 days after your birthday, every two years.
How do I calculate credit hours?
Credit hours are 50 minutes. A 60 minute program is 1 credit. A 90 minute program is 1.5 credits. A 120 minute program is 2 credits. Etc.
What if I am a newly admitted Attorney?
If you are admitted for less than two years you are considered a newly admitted Attorney.
What are newly admitted Attorneys requirements for CLE Credit?
They are required to take 16 hours of transitional credit in each of the first two years. This is 3 hours of ethics and professionalism, 6 hours of skills, and 7 hours of law practice management or areas of professional practice each year. As of January 1, 2016, newly admitted attorneys also may earn law practice management and professional practice credit through approved webinars, teleconferences, on-demand products, recorded products, or interactive videoconference. Ethics and professionalism credit may be earned through a fully interactive videoconference. Skills credit may ONLY be earned through the traditional live classroom.
How do I get verification of my attendance for the credits that I received through AudiosolutionZ.com?
Attendance Reporting Procedure: When watching the course, make sure to listen for the verification codes spoken at some point during the course. This verification code(s) will also be shown as a PDF slide. Submit a New York Attorney Affirmation Form for EACH course you are submitting for credit, complete the information requested, including the verification codes. These codes will not be in the materials included with the program. AudiosolutionZ will provide New York certificates of attendance to attorneys after verifying their participation. Attorneys must retain these certificates for four years after the program and certify completion of CLE requirements each reporting period. AudiosolutionZ will not send these certificates of attendance to the New York board.
How do I report my credits to New York State?
An attorney registration form will be mailed to you by New York State. You must file your attorney registration form and complete your CLE requirement within 30 days after your birthday on alternate years. All attorneys must certify, at the time of their biennial registration, that they have satisfactorily completed their CLE requirement for that reporting cycle and that they have retained the proper documentation. If, when you register, you have completed your required CLE credits but have not received all of your certificates of attendance, you may edit the relevant sentence on the attorney registration form to indicate that you are "awaiting documentation" of your compliance.
